Keeping Rabbits Cool

Updated: Jun 6, 2023

Rabbits are very sensitive to heat. Obviously, as you can imagine wearing a heavy fur coat doesn’t help much… so today I am going to share with you some ways to keep your rabbit cool as we go through this heat wave! Anything above 85 degrees F° is hot for rabbits, and special care should be taken to keep them cool.

1) If you can take your rabbit inside, do so!

2) Frozen water bottles are great, the bigger the better and the longer they last.

3) Tile to lay on, will make your rabbit happy. Put a slab in his cage and you will most likely find him laying on it because of its coolness. ( You can buy cheap tile pieces at Home Depot or other home improvement stores)

4) Fans are a great way to help your rabbit stay cool. Just place the fan in front of their cage.

5) Wet towels placed over the cage, will create a swamp cooling effect.
